A North Side Respite
A North Side Respite – Family-Centered Charm in Ann Arbor
Tucked beneath a canopy of trees in Ann Arbor’s cheerful North Side—where kids roam freely and every passerby offers a wave—this home was transformed into a warm, character-rich respite for a vibrant young family. The design focused on creating a sense of openness and ease, connecting the living and family rooms while cleverly adding definition where it mattered most.
In an unexpected twist, we closed in select walls to give the home stronger flow and purpose, carving out hardworking spaces like coat storage and kid-friendly cubbies. Every inch was considered for real-life living.
Rooted in the romance of the English countryside, the palette leans warm and earthy: white oak floors, a deep cherry wood island, and blue-green cabinetry that brings depth and soul. The original brick wood-burning fireplace was lovingly preserved, anchoring the space with timeless charm. Small layout shifts brought big change to how the kitchen lives—now both effortless and elevated.
The bathroom became a jewel box moment, wrapped in calming blue-green tones and crowned with a lively burst of wallpaper by local watercolorist Kelly Ventura. It’s equal parts serene and spirited—perfectly reflecting the energy and warmth of the family that calls this place home.
