Atelier Noir

A Modern Tale in Black, White & Oak

Every great film begins with a script — and for this project, our story started not with finishes or fixtures, but with function. Before we could set the scene, we had to fix the flow. The original kitchen was tucked away in a lonely corner — and as we all know, nobody puts Baby in a corner. Once the layout found its rhythm, the design narrative could unfold with intention and ease.

This family are true movie lovers — their home is both sanctuary and screening room. Inspired by their passion for cinema, we leaned into a palette that feels cinematic itself: deep blacks that ground the airy oak tones and bright whites that play beautifully in the light. Darth himself would be proud — the Force was definitely with us during this transformation.

At the heart of Atelier Noir is a Galley workstation sink — a design hero with all the right accessories to make even a short-order scene feel gourmet. The Monogram appliances take center stage, delivering both performance and polish worthy of a leading role. To elevate the visual composition, we selected Symphony quartz, book-matched at the island ends to add depth and drama, its veining rich and hyper-realistic against the supporting cast of oak and stainless steel.

And speaking of steel — the custom, hand-flamed hood, crafted by Montana artisans, is a showstopper in its own right. Like a perfectly timed close-up, it draws the eye and anchors the kitchen’s modern aesthetic. The furnishings, thoughtfully layered with the help of our partners at State Street Blind and Design, add the final touch — refined, comfortable, and just a little bit Hollywood.

Atelier Noir is more than a home — it’s a carefully directed composition of materials, light, and function. A modern masterpiece born of collaboration, creativity, and a family whose love of story inspired every frame. It takes a village of trades and talent to bring a vision like this to life, and it’s a joy to work alongside the best, crafting spaces that feel as timeless as the films that inspired them.
